Patty Melts


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • sea salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 cup sliced onion
  • 8 oz. sliced mushrooms
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices toasted rye bread


  1. In a bowl, mix together the sirloin, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, sea salt and pepper. Divide mixture evenly into 4 patties. Heat grill to medium-high heat. To cook inside, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Grill for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, until a meat thermometer registers 160 degrees F. Top each burger with one slice of cheese and melt. In another skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Saute the onions and mushrooms for 8-10 minutes, until the liquid has evaporated. Assemble sandwiches with toasted bread, burger, and some of the mushroom-onion mixture.
