Strawberry Sauce

Strawberry Sauce

Warning: After you find out how easy this sauce is to make, you won’t buy the stuff from the grocery store again! This makes a great topping for ice cream or cheesecake (especially chocolate cheesecake). It also complements strawberry shortcake nicely, too!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups sliced strawberries
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. corn starch

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a 1 quart saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, mashing the strawberries with a potato masher.
  3. Boil for two minutes and remove the pan from the heat.
  4. Cool slightly.
  5. Puree sauce with a stick blender.
  6. Refrigerate any unused sauce for up to two weeks.
