Slow Cooker Braised Chicken with Car

Let's enjoy some slow-cooker goodness. Braising the chicken gives the dish more flavor.


  • 1 cup sweet onion, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 pounds red potatoes
  • 3 pounds split chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • sea salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth


  1. Wash and dice potatoes into 1-inch cubes, leaving the skin on.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add sweet onions and brown sugar.
  4. Saute until onions caramelize, about 5 minutes.
  5. Place potatoes and onions in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  6. Pat chicken breasts dry with a paper towel and season with paprika, sea salt and pepper.
  7. Add remaining olive oil to the skillet and brown chicken breasts, skin-side down, for about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Add chicken and broth to the slow cooker.
  9. Cook on low for 8 hours.
