Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast (2¼ tsp.)
  • ½ cup warm water (110 – 120 degrees)
  • 1tsp. + 1 T. sugar
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Place flour in a medium sized bowl. In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, combine water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let rest for about 5 minutes, or until it starts to bubble and froth. Add yeast mixture, 1 tablespoon sugar, and oil to flour. Combine and knead for a couple of minutes to form the dough.
  2. Let dough rest while you head oil (about ¾ inch deep) to 325 degrees.
  3. Combine 1 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl to roll the hot donut holes after they are cooked.
  4. Roll a portion of the dough until it is about ½ inch thick. Using a 1-inch circle cutter, cut out donut holes. Place in hot oil, but do not crowd. Using metal tongs, turn donut holes after 2-3 minutes, or when they have browned slightly. Once cooked, remove from the hot oil and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Cool slightly on a wire rack and serve.
