Barbecue Beef Brisket

Barbecue Beef Brisket

This is one of my go-to “fix it and forget it” recipes, especially on a cool and rainy day. I like to serve this with steamed broccoli and Secret Mashed Potatoes for a complete meal. I made this once for a large party, and it was the first dish to go! Choose your family’s favorite flavor of barbeque sauce… see if you can find a brand that is made without high fructose corn syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1 3 to 4 pound brisket, preferably trimmed
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp. onion powder
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 small bottle barbeque sauce

Instructions

  1. Brush the bottom of a 9x13 glass baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Mince garlic cloves using either a garlic press or nutmeg grinder.
  3. Rub minced garlic into brisket; then season with onion powder and black pepper.
  4. Pour olive oil over the brisket, then pour the entire bottle of barbeque sauce over that.
  5. Cover baking dish with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake at 300 degrees for 3-4 hours.
