Pound Cake

Another of my childhood favorites.  I love to serve this (unfrosted) with sliced strawberries and whipped cream.

2 cups        butter (real butter, no substitutes)

2 cups        sugar

8                eggs

1 tsp.          salt

2 tsp.          vanilla extract

3 cups        flour

1 tsp.          baking powder

Cream together butter and sugar.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.  Add salt and vanilla extract.  Mix flour and baking powder together.  Add to liquid mixture and beat well.  Pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.  Increase heat to 375 degrees and bake for an additional 15 minutes.  Remove cake from oven and let it cool slightly.  Remove from pan to finish cooling.  Frost with Creamy Butter Frosting .  Serves 10-12.
